Holidays with Dogs

Please keep your dog on a leash..

St. Peter-Ording is situated in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein’s Wattenmeer National Park. While dogs are not prohibited in the mudflats and shallows of the national park, they must be kept on a leash to ensure the safety of the natural wildlife. The same applies to the dykes, foreland and beaches that are home to sheep, seals and seabirds. Dogs can disturb their foraging, nesting and brooding.

Dogs on the beach...

At the bathing beaches in Böhl, Bad, Ording and at the nudist beach in Ording Nord we have specially dog zones (Hundestrand). But to protect all guests, and particularly children, dogs must also be kept on a leash there. Please remember that dogs are exposed to a lot of sun on our sandy beaches, so you should make sure you bring along a sunscreen and water bowl for your four-legged friend.

Dogs in the town and in the spa area.

Dogs are allowed in the whole spa area, on the seafront promenade, in the woods around St. Peter-Ording and on the hiking trails, in the dunes and the pedestrian precincts, but must be kept on a leash. You will find drinking stations for dogs in front of many of the restaurants and taverns, as well as in front of the tourist centre. Dangerous dogs are undesired in St. Peter-Ording. We are sure that you appreciate that the safety of our guests and local residents has absolute priority.
